Preface:
The XII International Conference on Metal Structures is another cyclic conference that takes place in different scientific centres in Poland. Conferences of this type were launched in the year 1958 on the initiative of the Committee of Civil Engineering of Polish Academy of Science and the Committee of Metal Structures of the Polish Association of Civil Engineers and Technicians. On each of them, and thus on the current, a broad spectrum of the recent findings in the area of metal structures is presented. The themes of papers cover theory, experimental investigations, designing and execution. As the main objectives the resistance of structures, safety, and economics are exposed, that historically considering, are determined with increasing precision. This is achieved by implementing: more robust materials and their better quality classes, more advanced computer programs based on finite elements method, the continuous technological progress in workshop fabrication, and new methods of erection as well.
Eight invited keynote papers have been prepared and will be presented during four plenary sessions. From all submitted domestic and foreign papers sixty three works have been accepted and will be introduced at ten topic sessions that cover:

1. Resistance and stability of thin-walled structures,
2. Material issues,
3. Composite structures,
4. Imperfections and strengthening of structures,
5. Roof structures,
6. Tanks and towers,
7. Dynamic analysis of structures,
8. Joints and connectors I,
9. Joints and connectors II,
10. Structural-design issues.
